Mission: CASEY's mission is to address issues relating to the sexual exploitation of youth.

What is Sexual Exploitation: Sexual exploitation can be defined as an older youth or adult taking advatage of a younger child or youth for sexual purposes, including particpation in prostitution, pornographic performances, and in the production of pornography. Youth involved in the sex trade (prostitution, phone sex, stripping, pornography) are sexually exploited.

CASEY Membership:

Overview of CASEY: Sexual exploitation and sex trade work are not new issues for St. John's but up until the formation of CASEY there was no group or organization working to address this issue. Many of CASEY's members support young men and women who work in the sex trade, we believe it is critical to do prevention work, and this is clearly a gap in service that CASEY aims to fill. Since the reformation of CASEY in 2007 the group has spent its efforts developing the coalition, consulting the broad community to identify priorities; and developing a two-year workplan. Through the consultation and planning process CASEY identified the following three areas of focus:

• To create awareness and understanding of sexual exploitation of youth within the general public, youth and organizations that work with youth;

• To increase opportunities to network, collaborate, and share information;

• To advocate for appropriate supports and resources to reduce or prevent the sexual exploitation of youth.
